We had a family portrait taken today for our church directory. While it will not have my former trademark smile, I am happy to say I did not look heinous.
-
Non-heinous is always a good start, but I am willing to bet that you looked wonderful!

Saralynn,
I think your picture on the forum looks pretty good, so I'm sure the family picture will turn out great. Between school work and researching this new salivary gland tumor, I haven't found time to try to post a picture yet. One of these days it'll happen. ;D

Thanks for the vote of confidence. Kaybo took my profile picture at the Chicago symposium. She did a swell job.
I am very self-conscious about getting my picture taken these days as it seems like there are four or five heinous pictures for each decent shot. But I told the photographer right away about my facial weakness and he worked with it really well. We will be getting a CD with a copyright release so I will try to post some when they arrive.

Sara, Was thinking what Sandy said when you posted about the pictures, have always liked your forum photo. I have one, count them one, picture I actually like since my surgery in 1992. It's of me and my oldest son, love the pic. Glad you like the family photo. Jill

Post it, Jill!

Sara-
I missed this thread - guess it was when I was in ICU! I'm sure they got some good shots - you saw them there, didn't you? I was in a photography class a couple of months ago & I pointed out to everyone NOT to be afraid to ask to start with if anyone has any issues they want to stay away from...EVERYONE thinks they have a bad side! A few weeks ago my SIL from CA was here (the photog) & she was letting Emee take a pic of her & her mom...then they wanted me to get in. We started & then I said, "oh, I need to be on the other side"....as we switched, shari said, "oh, this is my bad side!" to which I replied, "girl, you got nothin' on me when it comes to BAD SIDES!!!". Needless to say, we had a very good laugh!!

Sara, I will if I can figure out how.
Kay, I will try looking to one side and not facing the camera and see if that helps, thanks for the idea.

Strange, I sent a reply this morning, but it has never appeared.
Jill, I have found that pictures taken from my weak side look better than from my normal side, but my face appears most symmetrical straight-on.
Kay, I think we need to ban you from any future surgery, period. I am so thankful you are recovering.

Here are the instructions I have for posting a picture in a post.
Go to http://photobucket.com and sign up - it's free.
Once you move your photos to photobucket, it's easy to copy the image. Look for a series of boxes under each photo that say "email & IM", "direct link", "HTML code" and "IMG code" Position your mouse on IMG code and left click. A yellow box that says "copied" will appear.
Next go to the forum and create a new subject. In the text of the post, just right click with your mouse and choose "paste".
You will see a set of brackets with the letters IMG in them and the address of your photobucket photo inserted between the brackets.
If you have numerous photos to post, just copy and paste each IMG code.
If you want to check and make sure your image(s) copied correctly, just "preview" your message before you hit "post" and you should see your photo in the preview box.
Good luck,
Jan

Thanks Jan, did the photobucket sign up last night but couldn't get past that. Will try the rest of your instructions and keep my fingers crossed. Jill :)

I've saved Jan's directions & pull them up everytime I post a picture!

Hey, I did it, I did it, didn't think it would work but it did! Thanks Jan!
Sara - Glad you encouraged me to do it. The picture is 9 years old, it's off my oldest son Jesse & me of course! Will have to do some trial and error pic's to see what works best for me, weak side or not. Jill 8)

Kay - Thanks for the idea of keeping the instructions for posting pic's, just cause I did it once it doesn't mean I can do it again.
Sara - Thanks, and Thanks for encouraging me to post it.
Clarice - Yes, it is nice to put a picture to the words you read, makes you feel more connected.
Jan - Thanks Jan, it's good to be seen, thanks for helping me accomplish it.
Wanted to post sooner but I've been to busy and tired to do it. Worked yesterday then spent 2 hours last night trying to find a new eye ointment supplier since my old one doubled the price of my ointment. Enough whining! Thanks again, Jill
