Hasanyone had a tarsarophy removed? I have been using a schleral lens and it is rubbing that outside corner that is stitched. No sure what to do.

Hi Dena
Although I haven't had my eye reopened yet (next year hopefully), my doctor says it's an easy procedure and even quicker than having it done.
I'll have a Google look to see if there's anything I can understand while not having to look at pictures of it LOL
Please let us know what your doctor says as I'd phone him/her and ask a whole range of questions first. Like how long does it take, do you need a general anaesthetic, and what can you expect to look like? Then of course I'd be asking the risks of the procedure.
My doctor has done a lot of them on stroke patients but only the one on an AN patient (me) so I'm comfortable with him suggesting either a reversal or an eyebrow lift.

Hi Dena: I don't know why but my oculoplastic surgeon refused to stitch my eye closed - I wanted a 6 month relief from using the lubricant 24/7, & using an eye bubble at night (a moisture chamber). I've had this paralysis for more than 6 years & am getting tired of it.
always good thoughts, Nancy

I have had mine removed. With my first AN the Doctors stitched y eye shut 10mm (1985) and I lived with for 7 years until I had a recurrence of the AN in 1992. After the second AN removal a Doctor opened up my tarsarophy and added a gold weight.
I have had several gold weights since that first one with trouble with every one. My eye is now having trouble with shutting completely again and am looking into having it replaced again or having another tarsarophy done. Doctor says maybe 5mm closure this time.

Hi Dena I had my eye stitched down for over a year when I had it reversed it only took a few minutes just a little bit sore the next day but not too bad
