I am in the process of researching the best facility to have radiation for my vestibular schwannoma. I am located about an hour north of New York City and was wondering if anyone who has been treated with radiation in this area could share their story and recommend a Doctor and facility.

Hi Barbara and welcome! Good to have you here!
There is a wealth of information.... and people that have endured what you are researching. Looking forward to hearing others chime in here. In the meantime, please take advantage of the "search" option in the top right to hone in on information such as NYC radiation, that may be of help.
Again, welcome!

Hi Barbara welcome. I did not have radiosurgery so I cannot share an experience. But I know that Dr Kondziolka at NYU in the city is highly experienced and has a very good name for radiosurgery. That could be a great place to start. I'm north of NYC also, I'm in Yorktown. Hopefully others will chime in and let us know if you have more questions. Although I did not do radiosurgery I did do a bit of research on it before I opted for surgery and I'd be glad to share what I know if you want.
PS: I don't think traveling to the city is too far. I traveled to CA for my surgery :)

Thank you so much for your reply. After much research and because of my age, I decided to go with Gamma Knife, and had the procedure done yesterday at The Valley Gamma Knife Center in Paramus, New Jersey, with neurosurgeon Dr. Rupa Juthani and Radiation Onocologist Dr. Chad DeYoung. I couldn't be happier with the experience. They were able to treat 95-98% of the tumor and were still able to preserve the hearing I had left in that ear even though they warned me that because my tumor was located very close to my cochlear I might lose all the hearing in that ear. I am located in Cortlandt Manor, so the trip to Paramus was very easy.
