I still can't believe it, but I've read and reread everything and spoken to my attorney and the people at Social Security and without the hearing, they have rethought their decision and reread my case and decided I am medically disabled because of my Acoustic Neuroma and translab surgery! I will receive my first lump sum check within forty-five days for the past thirty-two months. Basically from the diagnosis date until the date that the monthly checks start coming. They have not made a decision on my mental state (I already know I am crazy....I do not wish to be certified), but say they will make that decision forthwit. I am stunned. My hearing date has been pushed back four times. I was really dreading the thought of having to go through with it but I was willing. I am truly hoping that my case will help put this condition on the list for disabilities. At least for those of us who truly have the headaches, the balance problems and well all of you who have the problems know them. Good luck to all of you who are fighting the system.

Congratulations, you red-headed pixie! So glad to hear that they actually do give one of us a break every now and then.
I'm still waiting to hear and I actually had a hearing in March. Things did not go well for me as I told them I was trying to paint some. I showed income, too, from paintings I had done previous to my surgery, so they may have not have believed me at all. I have been painting, but it's such a frigging struggle, but it gives me someting to do when I actually have moments of feeling OK.

My attorney told me that here in Texas, they actually encourage you to try to work . I worked before my surgery, fulltime. As a matter of fact I was an area supervisor and worked sixty-five hours a week on a slow week! Even if you show income, they take into consideration what you are capable of doing now campared to what you did before. You have constant pain. I think your pain doctor needs to write a letter to SS. I also hounded the SS office. I told one guy I was gonna be dead before they ever got around to hearing my case. I told him that I had nine perscriptions and if I took half of each bottle they wouldn't have to worry about setting a hearing date for me because I certainly would be out of my misery. I think they record the calls we make, that was about three weeks ago.......................
If I were you I'd call them and ask them if you have to pull the car over to the side of the road to give yourself your Imitrex shots or can you do it while you are driving in heavy traffic with a train wreck migraine? Good luck. We all know what we are capable of and I don't any one of us don't want to work. I would much rather be working than be falling over and getting myself all bruised and banged up.....it is just so much fun having all these broken bones and dislocated shoulders!

My neurologist did in fact write a letter on my behalf to the SS office. I've let my attorney hound them for me. Maybe I should hound them myself!

Yeah Brendalu!
I'm still waiting for my hearing which at this point has taken over a year. I tried to go back to work post surgery and was put back on disability due to the medical issues I was having at the time. The system can be so frustrating. Glad to know you were able to navigate it! YEAH!

Check out the Social Security website....you may be hearing sooner than you think. I was told nineteen months. Mine was decided without the hearing in fourteen months...................(denied twice)

I can now afford the pirate boots.........if I can find them! I have the local western shop looking for them! The lump sum for twenty-three months back pay was deposited today, regular deposits start third Wednesday of October and Medicare starts November..........ouch I feel old!

Jeez Brendalu! My atty told me that even if you are approved it could be months before you see any cash. Sounds like I need to give him a call. Way to go, girl!

Yes you do, Capt Deb, because there have been a ton of changes at the disability level and people aren't having to wait as long. I would have had my money Monday if I hadn't changed banks! Go get'em.
