for all of us that deal with dry eye, the no blink reflex etc...
this week i went to the harley davidson shop and picked up these goggles that have transitional lenses
with a tension strap, goggles have changed, now they dont look so goofy,i spent over 100 dollars on panoptix glasses and i must tell you they do not compare to the goggles.
wind always made it's way through the frame to my eye,now with the goggles and the tension strap there is no way for wind to get to your eye,the tension strap sucks the goggles up tight to your face, unlike the panoptix. granted i spent 95 buck but now i drive my jeep with the top down and everything is good to go.
i just thought someone could use this info...

Great info, Satman - thanks for sharing!

So, if we go buy these fancy goggles, will you take us all for a ride in your Jeep? ;D
Seriously though, thanks for the info. After my upcoming 7-12, I'm sure I'll have to re-visit all these issues again.

now that you've got the fancy goggles, I'd start saving for the Harley :D
Seriously though, I'm glad you found something that works so well and I'm certain this information will be very helpful to others on the forum who have eye issues.

John:
We appreciate the tip about the motorcycle goggles. Sounds like a great way to circumvent getting wind in the (dry) eye and still enjoy the breezes on a boat, convertible , motorcycle, etc. Thanks.
Jan already has her tattoo so all she needs now is the Harley to complete her transformation from suburbanite lady to biker babe. ;)

trust me, I'm a little too old to be considered a "biker babe", but thanks for the vote of confidence :D
Maybe if I do get that Harley, satman will let me borrow his cool goggles 8)

Jan,
I've been to Bike Week in Daytona. Trust me - you're not too old to be a biker babe. :o

Why would you need big sunnies after the 7/12?? Do they still just go in on your neck? I thought that it was a reatively easy surgery/recovery...
K

K- Yeah, they go in through your neck but the facial nerve will stop functioning at all for a little while, which means the slight amount of tearing and closure I have now will go away - hopefully temporarily! Just trying to plan for the worst and hope for the best. And if it gets me a nice ride in a jeep with the top down - even better! ;D

Thanks I am new here and ran out to our local Harley store and bought meself some fine new googles. I bought two pairs, on that folds and are darker for outside (42$) and one that are lighter and use them inside (17$). I am almost 8 weeks post op and have facial paraylsis and with it (I'm so lucky) go all of the eye issues.
Friends of ours just won the lottery - lucky me I get the brain tumour! :'( What are the odds? ???
Anyway thanks for the info on the googles.

hi there k,i had the 7-12 nerve jump back in august/08 and have no improvement as of yet.
i think the nerves have to grow into the muscle ,and i believe the nerves only grow at a rate of 1cm a month.
if thats what you meant about sunnies ?
-
I think K meant sunglasses when she referred to "sunnies", but I could be wrong.
Also, did you mean you had your surgery in August 07 ?
-
Yes, I call sunglasses, "sunnies" - so much more fun & cheerful to say!! ;D
I figured satman meant 2007 too... ???
