I HAVE A MEDIUM CPA EXTENDING FROM THE IAC TO THE BRAIN STEM WITH FACIAL NUMBNESS INDICATING THE TRIGEMINAL NERVE IS EFFECTED. ALTHOUGH I HAVE VERY GOOD HEARING, I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT MY BALANCE NERVE IS SHOT AND THAT I WILL EVENTUALLY LOSE ALL HEARING REGARDLESS OF TREATMENT. I AM SCHEDULED FOR TRANSLAB SURGERY AT HOUSE INST. IN LA.
I WANT TO BE SURE THAT HEARING WILL BE LOST BEFORE TAKING THIS APPROACH.
PLEASE ADVISE. DFF

You may want to check into radiosurgery, specifically with the CyberKnife. I think it is wrong what you were told about losing your hearing regardless of treatment, those treated with CyberKnife for medium sized tumors keep the hearing they went in with more often than losing it. I had CK but not for an AN, mine was a lower cranial nerve neuroma.
Check out this site:

Also, the radiosurgery section of this site has alot more info and links that may help you, good luck.
