Title: head pains
Post by: hannie on October 21, 2008, 10:56:27 am
I've been getting these weird stabbings pains behind my left (AN) ear for the last few days. Its really strong but only lasts a few seconds (maybe 20 seconds at most). I've been having it about fifteen to twenty times a day for the last two or three days. Before this it was just once every few days/weeks. I was diagnosed with my AN two months ago and since then have had stress headaches but this is really odd.

Have other people experienced pains like this?

I have those sharp stabbing pains every day.  It can be really brutal at times.  I've had no explanation from any doctors.  BREATHE, is all I can say.  Mention it to your doctor.

A scar neuroma is damaged nerves and scar tissue that has formed underneath an incision.  It is very problematic and painful.  I first had a few nerve blocks which helped temporarily.  I had surgery in July to have it removed.  The scar is nice and smooth now, but from what I understand it could just pop up again.

*takes a deep breath* that's a bit rubbish, i was expecting some pain after the operation but not before! i'll defo mention them to my doctor when i next see him - another question for my ever expanding list lol!

Anne marie - i hadn't heard of scar neuroma either, it sounds really painful. how frustrating that one surgery can throw up problems that require other surgeries down the line. how is it now? better i hope

Hannie,
I had those pains for a year or more before the doc discoverd my AN. I always figured they were triggered by tension until I started researching ANs.   I read somewhere in my early research this is a common symptom of ANs, but of course, knowing that now didn't help me before I even knew my AN existed.

Hannie,

That area is much better, but the headaches continue and the facial pain.  It's part of the facial neuroma.  I'm on meds but today they are not working :'(

Hannie:

The pains you describe were almost exactly (frequency and intensity) what I experienced prior to my AN diagnosis.  It's possible that your AN is expanding.  Absolutely inform your doctor.  Let him advise you as to how to proceed.

I also get those pains in the back of my head too, its a stabbing, burning pain, it only lasts a few seconds but it hurts .  I often feel like the tumor is just reminding me its still there, I had FSR treatments last year and I still get those zaps, lately more often.  it makes me wonder whats going on inside there.  I wonder too , if the tumor dies will the pain stop, I hope so but doubt it.  I mentioned it to my doc and they acted like it was no big deal.  i guess it goes with the tumor.
