Title: Cross your fingers
Post by: Kim Zingale on February 15, 2009, 06:50:47 pm
I think I will be able to go home tomorrow. Thanks for your thoughts and prayers over the past week but help me with vibes to get to leave the hospital! Thanks, and I hope everyone is doing well :) I'll probably be posting some questions again soon (namely related to this weird taste thing I have going on).

Yep - taste thing is normal. It lasted for almost 2 months for me. Sugar was the first thing to taste normal. Salt was the last.

It's been almost 8 months for me, and last week was my first pizza in that whole time!!!  My tastes have really changed.  Can't eat the kind of cereal I used to love.
Food just tastes different.  My doctor said it could take as long as a year for them to "wake up"!  Wish my pizza one would have woken up sooner!!  ha.
Love,
Lacey

Welcome back, Kim. I have no idea on the taste thing, but everyone seems to be saying it is normal, so normal it is. Hope you make it home tomorrow.

Kim,
I've been following Manny's blog and your frustrations with the lack of specialized care.
Hoping for the best for you, and thanks for sharing your experiences.  It means a lot when there are just ten days left of normal life.

Hi, Kim:

I vividly recall my strong desire to be released from the hospital following my AN surgery (in 2006) so I can empathize with your pleas for vibes.  You know you have them - from all of us.  :)

The taste issue is not really all that unusual and will probably pass, in time.  Let's hope so.

Take care, rest as you need to and feel free to post any question, any time, for no charge ;)

Jim

Hi Kim,
I'm glad to hear you'll probably be going home tomorrow -- being in the hospital is not an experience I've ever wanted to prolong.  I had a was there 6 days including the day of my surgery and was very happy to leave.  I have to say the standard of care I received was excellent, but as the saying goes, there's no place like home.  As everyone else has said the taste thing is must part of the AN package -- this too shall pass.

Best wishes,
Wendy

Hi Kim

I hope you're home now and feeling comfortable.
I never know where to write people, but i posted a long, rambling reply to you - i think it's under 'an community' where your friend first posted your surgery report.
I started having questions post surgery too. ... received help here, and will probably post more soon.
We all hope you're doing well. Look forward to hearing from you when you feeling like typing!
