My surgery was Nov 2001, followup MRI at six months in 2002, another in 2003, 2005, 2007 and now waiting until 2010. I was told the tumor was removed completely but the neurosurgeon wants to keep checking for his and my peace of mind.  After 10 years post op I may no longer need MRIs.

i had a 1 year scan after my surgery and brackmann requested that i have another scan in 2 years - so i guess there is no standard but it really depends on your doctor and the outcome of your latest scan.  it is better to be safe than sorry  ;D

I had one 1 month post op then at 1 year (last week). I was told I don't need to go back for 2-3 years. (But he also said -- don't forget....like I could...)

Cathy:  I like your doc.   I've had 1 per year for 2 years,  & I am thinking of not having one done this year...
I can't have the Gandolinium dye since my 1st MRI b/c I had a hive on each thigh after the procedure.
& my otoneurologist said 'no more dye.'
& both the otoneurologist & neurosurgeon told me they got 'all of the tumor out'
(they better have with what happened to me !).

Always good thoughts,  Nancy
