BAHA insurance

I have a question for all of you BAHA users- Can you get insurance to cover the BAHA if its damaged or breaks or you lose it?

I think my Divino came with a one-year warranty and then I could pay for an extended one.  I've had it for about 20 months, and knock on wood, haven't had any issues with it.  My neurotologist's office gives "loaners" to patients who have to send their processors in for repair.

Lori mentioned in a prior thread that you can have a rider added onto your homeowner's policy that will cover the processor (device) aka tiny hearing aid.

I was going to look into that about a year ago, but haven't yet    Will have to one of these days.

Cochlear must have increased coverage since Jan got her BAHA.  When I got mine in January the policy included a two year warranty which included loss and repair/maintenance.  After the initial two year period, I will probably just have it covered under my homeowners insurance policy, which is much less expensive than the plan Cochlear offers.

Thanks for the info Wendy. I am so looking forward to January for my BAHA. And I was amazed that the abutment was so small. Technology is wonderful!

Yes,technology is a wonderful thing!  And I'm sure you will love your BAHA as much as I do.  I know it's hard to wait until January and will be even harder to wait the three months after surgery, but it will be worth it!  BAHA is amazing!!!

Mine came with the one year warranty also, and after that, I had it covered on a Personal Articles policy under my Homeowner's.  I pay something like $150 a year for $5000 of coverage for loss or damage.  My audiologist suggested looking into that, as it seems to provide better coverage than the Cochlear policy, but that might be different now that some changes have been made.
