After seeing Neurologist #1 (recommended by the Neurosurgeon who did my A/N), I called my Primary Care Doctor (who I love)
and told her that I was trying to find someone who does Botox injections for pain management because my head was killing me
and blah blah. She thought it was a great alternative to taking more meds (especially if they aren't really working). She gave me two names to try. I called the first doctor and she is on Maternity Leave and won't be back for 6 months and so isn't taking new patients. So, I called the second doctor.....took forever but I finally got through to someone ~ and I guess that doctor doesn't
do Botox injections anymore...but they gave me the name of another doctor in their same practice and transfered me over to
that doctors office. I left a message and the next day someone called me back. That doctor does do Botox but I would have to
be evaluated by that doctor first. Fine. So, I say "okay"....I'd like to schedule that appointment. The person then says....well,
you did just see another Neurologist right?..I said Yes......he then says.....well, I hope your insurance covers 2nd opinions! I said
I would like the appointment either way. So....the guy schedules me for an appointment and says.......what insurance do you
have....I tell him Blue Cross PPO. He then says....oh, by the way, I should tell you that the injections are $2000.00 and insurance
doesn't normally cover it. IT'S ALMOST LIKE HE WAS TRYING TO TALK ME OUT OF MAKING AN APPOINTMENT. So...I said
"okay". I just wanted to make the stupid appointment. So...I called Blue Cross (Independence Blue Cross) and the lady there
was pretty cool...for an insurance company (LOL). She said that it depends on how it's billed as to whether they cover it or not.
It has to be "medically necessary" and that I need pre-certification before they could tell me if it would be covered. If so and if
this doctor is "in network", then they pay 80% after my deductible. I haven't checked to see if they are "in network" and honestly,
I kind of hate the doctor even though I haven't met him yet..........just because horrible me has decided after the conversation
that they are idiots....fools.......dorks........okay....did I mention I"m getting crabby? I know you shouldn't make judgements
about people....especially before meeting them (lol)....but I just felt they were annoying on the phone and now I don't know
if I should go through with the appointment (consultation) or not.
