Something positive!
« on: May 24, 2006, 05:11:07 am »
Ok, so many here are going through so much in their lives, whether it be health, family, finances, love lives, etc.

So, here's our chance to share positive things in our lives that may help others cope better with what is going on in their lives.

So, I'll start. Just like many here, I have my "schtick" as well (as my mom says) but I try to find goodness in every day that I live.

Positive in my life:

1. Wonderful family (incl my WONDERFUL AN family here!) and friends!
2. A man that adores me! (so he claims!)
3. I wake each day and remind myself life is short so live it big!
4. Chocolate!
5.  Unconditional love from Beanie (even if she has an "accident" during the night!)
6. Capt'n Deb's imitation of a parrot, especially when she does it on the phone! :D
7.  Genny of Gennysmom laughing on the phone (HA-HA-HA!)
8.  Battywench's dating updates!  I miss going out on dates! Need my CB here!
9.  matti's secretarial services to Beanie!
10. Larry's creative skills in the "Good Morning" thread!

So, that is my short list. There are many other things I could add, but just wanted to kick this off.

What all is positive in your life? I know that many of you dealing with schtick are having a difficult time, but there IS positive in your lives... I know there is!

xoxoxoo to you all!

My positives; sometimes hard for me to recognize, but some of them are my boyfriend Darren, my kids, my new puppy, my favorite sister Debbie, to name a few.

My positives: 1. my children
                  2. my husband
                  3. my parents
                  4. some of my co-workers
(all four above are understanding and try thier best to be supportive in what ever way they can)
                  5. my attitude about this whole thing has been basically positive (with some periods of negative that have been short lived)
                  6. my warped sense of humor about this whole thing
                  7. friends (few, far between and as far away as they may be)
                  8. my family doctor.....he's a sweetie
                  9. my dog and three cats ( they listen really well where there nobody else)
                 10. my body's amazing ablitly to take a licking (ok, several beatings) and keep on ticking

The one thing I always remember, around the same time I was diagnosed a girl who works in my building was also diagnosed with a different type of brain tumor, her's cannot be surgically removed and she is just slowly dying bit by bit......thanks God for the type of tumor I got.

My boyfriend, my parents, my friends, my Gennybird!!  My lovely vacation I will be going on before I have surgery.  Going to the spa and being pampered.  Having post surgery goals to make myself get up and get better like driving two hours to see my good friend Nan, being able to roll over as many times as needed on the massage table, get back to my favorite hobby of geocaching, and plan more vacations with my boyfriend!!!

The "outside stuff" to me is not nearly as important as what is going on on the "inside." Yeah I have a great life--wonderful guy, lovely home, beautiful grandkids, enough money to be not worried about it.  All that stuff means nothing to me if I'm not right on the inside. I struggled for a long time after surgery with depression, feelings of hopelessness, worthlessness, and fear.  With the headaches I had, life just sucked.  Well, I still have the headaches, somewhat, but I feel like I just FORCED them to go away by getting out of bed and getting on with my life. Maybe a case of mind over matter? Or something in my head just decided to heal? I really don 't know.  I just got so sick of feeling sorry for myself!

Today my positives are:
1. I try to focus on what I can do instead of what I can't do.

2. I have the capacity to be of use to other people

3. I can laugh at myself (and Phyllis.......I can laugh at Phyllis, too!)

4.  I don't have to be perfect (physically, mentally or spiritually)

5.  HEY!  I'm still alive!!!

6. Chocolate (well I can have one "outside" thing can't I??)

I am thankful for many of the same things as the other people posted, but I'm adding one more thing. Insurance!  I'm thankful we had insurance.  Most of my treatment was paid for by them.  The most wonderful phrase in the world,(right after I Love You) is " Patient Responsibility - $0.00."

great thread girly.

My family, wife and two daughters (who can be pains at times - natural for age), my brother and mother who have been terrific, my two dogs - Piccolo and Abbey. Both are maltese Sh....u crosses (not allowed to say the real word). they give uncompromised love. Abbey tends to run around in circles when its time for a walk and I now call her girly whirly - sound familiar to anyone?

Ny cyber friends, there are so many of you I won't print your names in case I forget one (forgetting a bit these days). You guys are fantastic and have been a great help to me.

We all have different issues, complaints etc but we have to clutch onto the positives.
