Diagnosed in December
« on: January 29, 2011, 03:38:36 pm »
Fresh off the MRI boat with my AN diagnosis.  I have been lurking in these forums for a while.  Decided to sign up.  I am going to try for CyberKnife with Dr. Chang, if I can get the pre-auth OK.

Hi, Kintro - and welcome.  Glad you decided to register and post.

Dr. Chang has a sterling reputation and you would do well to secure his services, if possible.  I wish you total success.

Jim
4.5 cm AN diagnosed 5/06.  Retrosigmoid surgery 6/06.  Follow-up FSR completed 10/06.  Tumor shrinkage & necrosis noted on last MRI.  Life is good.

Life is not the way it's supposed to be. It's the way it is.  The way we cope with it is what makes the difference.

Let me also welcome you to the forum.  If you have been lurking I am sure that you have read many of the posts.  Make sure you get all the information on radiation and surgery.  CK is very good and easy to go through.  But you want all the information first.  I am sure if you can be seen at Stanford the doctors will provide lots of information.

Best of Luck

Hi Kintro and welcome,

I know deciding on treatment gave me a great sense of relief and I hope it does you too.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you will get the pre-certification for Dr. Chang and quickly.  The sooner things are set in motion, the sooner you can put this behind you.  As yopu can see, I had microsurgery, but I'm sure many people who have had CK will chime in with helpful information soon.

Sending good vibes your way,
Wendy

Hi, Kintro:

Welcome to the forum. I had CK with Dr. Chang at Stanford. It/he was a godsend. Dr. Chang's care far exceeded my most fervent hopes. If you can have him be your doctor for CK treatments, you will be in the very best hands possible.

Best wishes,
TW

Good luck to you.My AN was discovered December, one year ago, and I bounced back and forth between radiation and surgery, and after deciding on radiation, I had surgery in March last year. It appears most of here have pretty good outcomes either way. What was your thought process to chose CK? Ask lots of questions...get lots of answers...one big family here. Welcome to the club.

I suppose I should put this in my signature:  1 x 0.6 x 0.6 cm in the left internal auditory canal.  My symptoms are high frequency hearing loss and tinnitus on the left side.  Some short dizzy spells that last a few moments.

kintro .....

Thanks for letting us know a little bit more.  I suspect the short dizzy spells are the "wonkyhead" or disorientation spells many of us have/had.  Did you have any trouble getting the pre-authorization for Cyberknife treatment with Dr. Chang?

Many thoughts.
