update on Kim
« on: June 29, 2006, 04:24:40 pm »
I just talked with Kim's husband Mike. We had a really really nice conversation and I told him everyone is pulling for Kim.
He said he had just left the ICU and Kim is doing well. Her surgery was from about 8 a.m. to about 2 p.m. today and it went well.
Kim's a little groggy, but she is glad to be alive and is doing really well, he said.
:) Keep Kim in your prayers.
Jennifer

I just got off the phone with him too :o)
Wonder if we're driving him nuts yet?  LOL
Sounds like a little facial paralysis. But she did well.  Surgery a little longer than expected and the tumor was sticky  :(

He sounded very tired and was heading back up to the hospital since they won't let him icu for very long.

Just got off the phone with Kim, she is doing great!!!!!!!  She's up, sipping on soup, going to the bathroom on her own, and cracking jokes.  She's got some lower facial paralysis, the tumor was a little larger than they expected, about the size of a "golf ball" and it was sticky.  She can shut her eye to sleep though, and is learning to suck liquid through a straw.  For her first surgery, she is a trooper!!!!!  Of course she has no idea yet what may be permanent, but she's most happy to be out of ICU.  I talked to Mike for a second, and he was expressing a great thanks to all of us for talking her through this because it was really tough for him to know what to say.  Yeah Kim!!!!!

Great news regarding Kim's surgery!

She sounds good - considering the extent of the tumor and her time in surgery.

At the rate she is progressing post-op, she should have an excellent recovery.  I will be praying for that.  :)

4.5 cm AN diagnosed 5/06.  Retrosigmoid surgery 6/06.  Follow-up FSR completed 10/06.  Tumor shrinkage & necrosis noted on last MRI.  Life is good.

Life is not the way it's supposed to be. It's the way it is.  The way we cope with it is what makes the difference.

Kim is home from the hospital and doing well!

She has slight facial paraylsis which the doctors are pretty hopeful will resolve itself.
She's mobile with no walker.
Kim said to please tell everyone thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers and appreciates all the phone calls.  I think her husband was surprised we were calling from all over the country  ;D

Her biggest complaint is how tired she feels.  Which of course is expected and will get better.
