Cruising

I am a cruise addict.  I have never had any problems with sea sickness even in rough seas.  Since my balance never will be cut in my upcoming surgery, I am concerned that this will affect my ability to enjoy future cruises.  

Has anyone had this problem post surgery?  Thanks.

I went on a cruise well after my surgery and had NO TROUBLE; however, I don't think I have some of the issues as others...I have horrible balance, don't get me wrong, but mainly when I am very tired!  We are going another cruise this summer - I'll let you know!!

Ah my cruise. Just returned from an Alaskan cruise through the Inner Passage, so not open sea. I did OK on the ship, but once home felt lightheaded and dizzy for many days. But did fine on the ship. I normally have disequilibrium, so I fit right in when the waves were high So I guess it depends on how well balanced (or not)  you are from the post effects of the surgery. My big tumor had already compensated on the 'good" side, so I seem to function OK. How big is your tumor? And when is your surgery?

We own a 46 ft. sailboat.  My husband and I sailed it around from Ft. Myers Florida to Georgia last fall.  I was about 7 months post CK.  I had balance problems and wonky head.  The sailing made my problems no worse and, in fact, I felt I did better because I couldn't tell the motion of the boat from my tipsy head.  I had a great time, with no bad results.  Have fun!

I just got back from an Alaska cruise also, didn't have any balance problems any more than other people!!!  Did notice the feeling like I was on the ship for a couple of days afterwards.  I was kind of worried about the balance and sea sickness too.
