How was your hearing a year after hearing preservation surgery?
« on: February 29, 2012, 04:44:55 pm »
Hi all!

I was interested to hear what people's long term outcome was after hearing preservation surgery? Have you kept the hearing you had immediately post surgery or has it deteriorated? I thought it might be interesting to see where we are at!

I had mid fossa 15mths ago. Hearing preserved and actually better than pre op. I've since had three episodes of deterioration and now have severe left sided hearing loss. :(

I had middle fossa 2+ years ago, immediately after I had pretty good hearing, but then it did start to deteriorate...I was in the 80% catagory for word discrimination before op, now I am about 50%.  It's to the point I had to get a BAHA because I just couldn't understand anything going into that ear.  It's still functional for directionality and if I wear iPod ear phones (I can still perceive stereo) so all in all, I will take that over nothing!
