TRT (Tinnitus Retraining Therapy)

Has anyone tried TRT for their tinnitus? I have SSD from AN and have been told by 1 audiologist it would be a waste of time and money since there is no auditory nerve to work with. Then I had another audiologist write TRT under "recommendations" on my last audiology report.
Besides having severe tinnitus, I have developed hyperacusis over the last year or so. I had translab approach at HEC in LA 10 years ago after waking up deaf in right ear and discovering AN with an MRI.
My quality of life has really gone down hill!

P.S. Even if your insurance does not cover HEC, I remember meeting patients there that didn't have insurance at all and still got treatment. The hospital can it write off as a "hardship case". I am so thankful for ANA and finding out about HEC after I was diagnosed.
