Heat/Hot Weather
« on: May 11, 2005, 04:00:32 pm »
I had my AN removed by translab October 7th 2004. I'm a 41 year old male who is in good shape. I know it's only been 7 months, but I'm just curious if anyone else has my problem or know anyone who has. I've always enjoyed working out in the yard and heat has never really bothered me. I do live in southeast Georgia and it has been close to 90 degrees and humid. But for the first time in my life the sun and heat is killing me. It drains every ounce of energy that I have and all I want to do is sleep. A few months ago when it was cool I didn't have this problem. It's effecting my job and I can't go outside and play with my little boy. It just takes everything out of me. It was not like this last summer before my surgery and I don't know if surgery has anything to do with it or not. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Patrick!
You wrote: "I know it's only been 7 months". My feeling is this is exactly the point. Your body has been through some pretty hevy duty trauma. Maybe this is a Summer to relax just a bit more than usual.
Are you taking any new meds? This too could have an impact.
Best wishes to you. It's tea time in the South!   -Russ

I had my surgery on Mar 1 and you know, I am feeling just the opposite. I am more cold these days. I have a sweater on when before, I would have sweltered. I don't know but I would think this surgery changes lots of things about you. My handwriting isn't as good or pretty as it use to be, my humor and wit is a little dulled and feeling colder are all changes since the surgery. Weird isn't it.

Yes, I've had parallel experiences.  I've managed to somewhat suppress it by forcing myself out of bed and to get out doors (Fort Worth, Texas).  As of this writing its in the low 90's and I'm considering going for a bike ride (my gate is just too poor to go any distance by foot).  I can gradually feel my strength coming back and believe that I am starting to get over the hump, so to speak.

Symtoms:  headaches 2-3 times weekly, vertigo, double vision while laying down, poor balance, cognitive difficulties, tremors in left arm.
