Hissing sounds
« on: June 22, 2012, 03:05:54 pm »
hi all,

Have any of you had this? When I am open mouthed and my jaws are open I have this hissing sound that stops as I clench my teeth together then when I unclench them it begins again..... it's beginning to drive me crazy!!

My hissing is like a tire being deflated continuously but it has nothing to do with clenching my teeth/jaw.

However, I have on occasions been able to generate other sound by clenching my teeth/jaws but I really have to work at it to accomplish that. So I don't.

Hi Arizonajack,

It has not been a problem today as much as it was yesterday. Yesterday, it seemed when I was standing outside watching somebody paint a mailbox of mine. When he walked away I seemed to notice the hissing sound that happens when it is windy out yet strangely it wasn't it was hot out and I was sweating! When I clenched my teeth, the sound went away.

Is my tumor swelling already? Strange I seem to be having no side effects happening today!

Tinnitus can be very strange.

The hissing in my left ear has been constant since it started about 7 years ago and isn't AN related.

The tinnitus in my right ear is from the AN and keeps changing periodically. Last nite it was a skritching sound. Today it's back to an intermittent boop that I can barely hear in quiet surroundings and can't hear at all while my room AC is on.

Hi Mike,

Isn't tinnitus our friend =) Ha! ha!  I have to try to find some humor with this incessant hissing in my right ear.  It is constant for me.  I notice that at night it gets really loud when I am trying to sleep.   I wonder if your right, that fluid might affect the level of noise we hear.  Good point.  Haven't researched it much.  I just kind of accept the fact that it's there although rather annoying at times.
I was worried because I have been getting it in my left ear, which is not my AN side.  All of the sudden my hearing will go out and then I'll hear a high pitch ringing tone.  It will last a couple of minutes and then slowly go away.  That's how my AN side started so it does make me a little nervous.  Different huh?  Have you heard of that?

Hi Wendy,

What happens when you roll to your right? To your left? I have noticed that the only good thing to happen after my surgery (I am SSD on my left side) and continues to happen now is that (when I'm not worrying) I get a d..... good nights sleep! This is the only positive thing that has happened! Consequently, I sleep on my right.... utter silence.....blissful!!!! I have a wife who snores loudly ps. Don't tell her!
