Headphones
« on: October 16, 2013, 08:49:29 pm »
I am 3 years since FSR.  I am considering buying headphones for travel for both airplane and highway which means they could be on my head for hours. Has anyone had any experience with using headphones for travel purposes.  I am thinking they could help tinnitus.  A company is currently is advertising noise reduction headphones.

Yes, I posted on the same about a month ago.  My doc strongly recommended a pair.

I determined there was a distinction between "noise canceling headphones" and "noise isolating headphones."  This article was somewhat helpful.

A "good" pair doesn't come cheaply.

Some things in my life need to matter less, and other things in my life need to matter more.  So yes, I'm taking this as a "lesson learned experience."

I haven't had treatment yet, but I'm losing my hearing.   I wear headphones at home just for the heck of it and cotton sometimes in both my ears too.  I think I'll be doing that for the rest of my life.
I for sure use cotton when I blow dry my hair.

I found a nice single bud mono to stereo earphone for anybody with SSD interested in hearing in stereo again.

XDU Flexible Earhook Stereo-to-mono Single Headphone - Fabric-wrapped Cord
by Far End Gear

This is the earbud.  I'm not anywhere close to being knowledgeable about equipment but it sure is nice to hear music in stereo again.

Thanks for that. Look forward to giving it a try. I spent the night before my op listening to a tonne of my favorite songs in stereo one last time. In hindsight, glad I did.

I have a few pairs of Single Sided headphones for when I travel, sitting by the pool, ect.. they are hard to find, we bought some on Amazon, but did see a pair at radio shack.   Im not too worried about the quality, just that i can enjoy things that others take for granted!
