Scheduled CK for next week
« on: April 03, 2014, 06:43:37 pm »
Time for another shot at this AN. Following translab the tumor has grown this year. I decides to go with CK at Stanford. Please send prayers and good vibes on 4/9, 4/10, and 4/11 my treatment days. I'm considering driving the 5 1/2 hrs to Stanford. Does that sound crazy? Anyone here who has undergone CK have any advice on this point?

Thanks,

Rose

I suggest staying overnight your last day so you can rest up.

On the day of my GK I had to get up at 4 AM and was just plain tired by 1 PM when I got out of there and was glad I had somebody to drive me home.

3/15/18 12mm x 6mm x5mm
9/21/16 12mm x 7mm x 5mm
3/23/15 12mm x 5.5mm x 4mm
3/13/14 12mm x 6mm x 4mm
8/1/13 14mm x 5mm x 4mm (Expected)
1/22/13 12mm x 3mm (Gamma Knife)
10/10/12 11mm x 4mm x 5mm
4/4/12 9mm x 4mm x 3mm (Diagnosis)

On my first CK session day at Stanford, my wife accompanied me because I wasn't sure how I would be feeling afterwards. As it turned out, I drove both ways because I felt no change after being zapped. On the remaining two sessions I went alone and had no problems driving. However, my drive time was only a little more than an hour each way. Dr Chang is very receptive to questions via email so it may be a good idea to email him and ask what he thinks. Dr Chang's email address is on Stanford's website (stanfordmedicine.org).

My first session was at 11:00 AM, my second session was at 11:30 AM, and my last session was at 9:00 AM. They would like you to be there 30 minutes early. I think 9:00 AM is the earliest they start because on my last session I arrived at 8:15 AM and the radiation tech told me the machines won't be turned on and tested until 8:45 AM.

It's always nice to have someone with you for a 5 1/2 hour drive home. Best of luck to you!
