2009 Symposium
« on: September 11, 2006, 11:51:52 am »
I got the newest ANA newsletter today and in it is mentioned that the 2009 symposium will be in Chicago.        Very nice for us here in the midwest!          Knowing this might help in deciding whether to try for Philadelphia or not.

My parents live an hour outside Philly .. so I can visit them and go to the symposium and make a long weekend out of it .. (I never visit enough!) .. can we start a thread on who is going? and what kind of events are they having? (Having never been to one)

That sounds wonderful. I'd like to hear more about what this entails being new to this site.

I have went to the last 2 symposiums.       If a person is pre treatment you can hear discussions about the various treatments.   if you are post treatment then is a good way to meet other ANers, or get answers to some of the left over effects many seem to end up with.                         They have general sessions for everyone and then  a choice of small sessions about many topics AN related that you can choose to go to.     There is also the Sat eve banquet.           It is all quite interesting.           One can then stay a couple days longer and go sight seeing in the area.
There will be more details in the Dec AN newsletter and it is posted on this website for those who do not get the newsletter.

Thanks Cheryl. That sounds like something I would be very interested in and look forward to the details in December. One other question on the topic... how do I sign up for this newsletter?

One recieves the newsletter when you join the Acoustic Neuroma Association.  There is a link on the home page of this website called  membership/donate and you can join thru there or if you don't want to use your credit card can just send them a check with the info to the address on the site.     You can call them if you have further questions and the number is listed there also.      They have been so kind and friendly when I have had need to call them.         The booklets about various AN topics are very good and are free for a single copy.                   The membership is $35 a year.                          Hope this helps.

Oprah would be so cool but it's in the summer and I think she won't be taping then.   Always something to check out though.    Anyone know?
