Facial tics/twitch
« on: November 01, 2013, 01:02:55 am »
I am wondering if anyone after radiation cyber knife treatment experiences facial tics.  Had procedure in May & in Sept I began experiencing facial tics & they seem to be increasing in number & severity. I have to warn people I may have one & not to worry - Im not having a stroke.  Any comments or suggestions? Thanks. Karen

It is very possible that your AN is swelling some post CK.  I had tics before my CK and have had some since.  My CK was early May and I began to notice increased side effects 3-4 months later (increased dizziness, instability, a constant earache).  My doctors indicated these are likely caused by nerve irritation from the radiation.  It is adviseable to consult with your radiation oncologist's office.  Apparently it is common to have issues after a few months but your doctor should be made aware.
3/25/13- dx 18x11x14 mm AN, hearing loss in right ear x 5+ years, 5 sessions of CK completed May 2013, now a "post toastie".  Follow up MRI 4/14/14 - 15x19x11 mm. Stable with some signs of necrosis.
 Yippee!

I also experienced facial twinges/tremors about 2-4 months post GK, but they have mostly subsided now at 6 months post-GK.  Others on this forum have documented post-radiation facial spasms.

Hang in there!  This too shall pass.
