Does acupunture work?

I am four months post Cyber Knife.  I won't know until February, when I have a follow up MRI, if my surgery was successful.  In the meantime I am struggling with tinnitus and balance issues.  Today I met someone who suggested that acupuncture had been recommended to her husband as a treatment to shrink brain tumors.  Does anyone have any experience?  Are the needles placed near the affected ear?
