6 months post Cyberknife
« on: March 01, 2014, 02:17:55 pm »
Well I've survived the 6 month MRI post Cyberknife.  I have to admit I was nervous before seeing the doctor.  My tumor had swollen from 1.9 cm to 2 cm, but the doctor said this was normal.  And the good news was that about three fourths of the tumor was black, indicating necrosis or tissue death.  The doctor was quite pleased with the results, and won't need to see me for another year.  All during this process I have received tremendous comfort from others in the AN community.  I hope I'll be able to share good news again next year!

Anne ~

Congratulations!  Great news!  Thanks for updating us.

Jim
4.5 cm AN diagnosed 5/06.  Retrosigmoid surgery 6/06.  Follow-up FSR completed 10/06.  Tumor shrinkage & necrosis noted on last MRI.  Life is good.

Life is not the way it's supposed to be. It's the way it is.  The way we cope with it is what makes the difference.

Necrosis is what we all love to see. And a little swelling goes along with it for a while.

I had my GK Jan 2013 and my first followup MRI showed necrosis and slight swelling. I'll have my next followup MRI March 13.
3/15/18 12mm x 6mm x5mm
9/21/16 12mm x 7mm x 5mm
3/23/15 12mm x 5.5mm x 4mm
3/13/14 12mm x 6mm x 4mm
8/1/13 14mm x 5mm x 4mm (Expected)
1/22/13 12mm x 3mm (Gamma Knife)
10/10/12 11mm x 4mm x 5mm
4/4/12 9mm x 4mm x 3mm (Diagnosis)

I too had my follow up at 6 months. I had swelling and some black in the tumor.  I am going back in 6 months for another MRI as they want to watch and see if it is growth or just swelling. I got to see some black in the tumor but I do not know how much it was relative to the size of the cystic part. I understand that does not turn black.  Congrats on your news.
