3.5 cm removed Nov 2013. Just spoke to the doctor about my latest MRI. He says it looks great, and no regrowth. I am doing really great. Working and playing sports and all that goes with being back to normal life. I went through the worst worry and agony trying to decide and move forward with my treatment. Now here I am doing really well, thank God.
I dedicate this to all those who are worrying like I did. Have hope!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There really are plenty of really great outcomes. I am living proof of that. There are many more good outcomes than bad. You will probably have a good one also.
PS: I have to give kudos to my surgeons Dr Slattery and Dr Schwartz. Slattery calls me today and its, "hey how are you doing." The most friendly and reassuring voice you can possibly imagine. And very patient with me, who always seems to ask one question too many. All this on top of them being some of the best there are for acoustic neuroma (IMO). This seems to me to be the ideal for a doctor. Not just great skill, but speaking to the patient in a way that makes them comfortable - isn't being at ease part of the healing process. Not everyone needs this in a doctor. But if you want it, along with the highest levels of skill for this surgery, then you could not ask for a better choice. I do not normally like to gush, but for me it is the truth, so why not share it.
