BAHA implant keeps moving
« on: February 26, 2015, 09:43:36 pm »
I am 11 years post op for placement of titanium abutment for my BAHA (hearing aid). Recently the tissue surrounding the titanium implant has been sore and bleeding slightly. Does anybody have an explanation for this. I can't find anything on the internet.

I am almost four years post surgery/abutment implanting and if I am not diligent with soft brushing around my post I get some irritation.  A wipe with hydrogen peroxide and a teensy dab of Neosporin clears it up overnight for me.

I wear my processor 10 to 12 hours a day so I am presuming the irritation is probably from holding a small degree of moisture on the skin next to the abutment all day.

By all means if this is constant or happening frequently for you, I would check with your doctor.  You do not want a major infection to get started.
