Gabapentin (Neurontin) and Acoustic Neuroma

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

In 2010 I was diagnosed with peripheral polyneuropathy  Firstly, I live in Brazil, which leaves much to be desired on the medical side. I was found to have a Vitamin B-12 deficiency and was prescribed high doses of Neurontin, at that time 2400 mg per day. The pain was controlled, unfortunately with some horrible, I am afriad unreversible side effects. Fast forward , May 2013, after 9 months of testing, I was diagnosed with my acoustic neurima. Had surgery in July. I continue with Neuronti, but lower doses, until this day. I need to get off of this drug. My question to the Forum is if anyone takes Neurontin, likes or does not like it, can identify with the horrible side effects or has an alternative medicationb that can be tried.
