Six Month "Post-Cyber Knife" MRI Results
« on: February 04, 2016, 05:03:57 pm »
Hi All,

If anyone is looking for CK encouragement, I just wanted to post that my six month post-CK MRI went well, and the tumor was deemed "the same size," hooray! That sounds a little anti-climactic, doesn't it? :-)
I had been feeling well, but how nice to have that result (no swelling, no growth) officially confirmed. I will go back to Stanford for my next MRI in June, fingers crossed.

Of course my partial hearing loss is still present (but not worse, according to the audiogram) and my tinnitus is still present (but not worse, by my own assessment), but those both seem to be things I can learn to deal with. There are some days that I'm more easily fatigued by physical exercise, and I catch myself off balance more often than before, but it's hard to know what to chalk up to "aging" and what to blame on the tumor.

I also have had an interesting experience with TMJ, but I will write that up in its own post.

Wishing the best to all of you, with whatever path you choose.

sunny

Thanks for the update, Sunny! I'm three months post-Cyber and have had no change in symptoms. Some hearing loss and tinnitus . . . same as pre-Cyber from what I can tell. I hope you continue to do well and that I can match your 6-month check up!

So happy for the good news!  Gives me hope!  Saturday will be three months post SRS for me.  I'm a bit obsessed.  I analyze every little head pain I get. I'm going to stop that as of today!

Sounds like you are off to a great start with your recovery.
Always take care of yourself  :-)

Patti, I hope you can relax during your recovery.
Take it easy on yourself and go at your own pace, for sure.
Congratulations on your first three months! :-)

Congrats, Sunny.  Good to hear as I am in the process of scheduling CK with Dr. Chang right now; looking at about 4 weeks from now.

BTW - I had bilateral TMJ surgery 3 or 4 years ago; let me know if I can offer anything there.

Just a quick update on my six months MRI post CK.  The tumor size increased from 12x11 mm to 15x13 mm.  I assume the 2.2 cm part remains the same?  There is necrosis as evident from the image (Yay!).  This is really good news, and explains the facial spasms I started to have right around the six months mark, along with loud tinnitus, and fatigue. I am hopeful that my symptoms will improve with time, or I get used to this "new normal".

Right side AN diagnosed 6/7/2015
12x11 mm
Swelling to 15x13 mm @ six months
SSD, tinnitus, some balance issues....

My 3 month MRI showed no growth and no swelling, too. Yeah! It has relieved a lot of pressure for me and my husband.  We imagined worse things!  It did clarify that next to the bigger one (2.6 cm X 6 cm) is a nodular,  second acoustic neuroma, 5 mm round. I know NF-2 is on both sides, but can it be on the same side? and at the age of 53?
