Severe Ear Pain
« on: January 09, 2017, 08:11:55 am »
Diagnosed with 8mm AN in August. I have been having ear pain for 9 months but last 2 months the pain has been severe  :'(. It never ends. I have seen my primary doctor and ENT and my ear looks great. Have any of you experience ear pain with AN?

Yes!!! I don't have it constantly but it is almost like a radiating pain that feels like it goes from my jaw to my ear. There are times that I find myself holding my ear or laying on a heating pad. It really doesn't help at all but it is the only thing I can do. I'm sorry you are dealing with the pain as well and hope you find some relief.
Diagnosed 9/20/16 with 1.8 x 2.5 AN

Follow-up MRI 3/14/17 w/ no growth; 10/9/17 pressing on trigeminal nerve causing pain

mine is behind my ear and is super sharp and doesn't throb but does get weaker and stronger before going away.
Diagnosed 2014 a while after mom was also diagnosed with a slightly smaller AN on opposite side(we are not NF2)
4/14   2.0x2.4x1.7
10/14 1.6x2.2x1.5
6/15   1.5x2.9x1.6
8/16   2.8x2.2x1.5
Watch and wait may be prepping for surgery soon 6/17?

Mine was excrutiating, on the bone right behind the ear. Was up for three days. Went away with a steroid course and has not returned.

My AN is 1.6cm I was just diagnosed 3 weeks ago. I've had ear pain and fullness and occasional deafness for the last year an a half (took a long time for my specialist to sent me for an mri) the pain goes from behind my hear to my jaw. I occasionally have a vibrating sensation... freaks me out, makes me think it goes throught growth spirts when that happens.

Hi Cali, welcome to the forum. Your follow up MRI will tell you the natural growth rate.
