Radio Frequency Emissions
« on: November 12, 2006, 07:32:16 pm »
Evening all,

I just bought a new Motorola RAZR V3m, and it came with a handout with some really interesting info in the Consumer Information about Radio Frequency Emissions.  What I thought was really useful were the phone numbers and links at the end of the document...

Verizon’s site has the document electronically, check out the following link:

http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/aboutUs/wirelessissues/radioEmissions.jsp

If the link doesn't work highlight both lines and paste it into your internet browser address line...

Although there is no clinical evidence that cell phones cause tumors, my RF expert colleagues (I am in wireless industry) recommend headset or speaker when using a mobile phone.

There are a lot of repohis and yes, the jury is out. The problem with the studies conducted thus far are that we don't have a lot of history and the test subjects have not necessarily been a wide cross section of people.

the most recent study that I read was done in Sweden where they concluded, albeit, with caveats, that the old analog mobiles gave rise to potential cancerous growths. having said that, there was a higher incidence of tumors from people that used analog phones for more than 10 years.

As we haven't had a proliferation of digital phones for that long, then any research done now will be flawed on the back of inconclusive and incomplete base data.

having said all the above, I use my blue tooth headset when I can (hope that doesn't emit something else)!
