Hearing aids vs. Airpods

I lost total hearing in my left ear due to my AN surgery a couple years ago and have a hearing aid in my right ear with a cross-over in my left.  Like a lot of folks, I have trouble hearing well in bars and restaurants, crowded places, etc.  Even with the hearing aids I struggle with these social situations.

I've heard from a couple people that Airpod 2's (and maybe 3's?) are excellent at helping with clarifying voices in these settings.  My question is are these actually better than hearing aids?  Does anyone have any experiences comparing the two?
