Friedman/Schwartz
« on: December 20, 2018, 11:12:02 am »
Hi all I’m 29 y/o and discovered my acoustic neuroma when I was 24. I’ve been in watch and wait for a few years now however now my tumor is growing and my doctor (Dr. Kohan) thinks it is time to intervene. Tumor is currently “small” at 11mmx4mm and I have very slight but very functional hearing in my left ear and tinnitus. I live in NY so obviously I am getting second opinions from the big doctors here. My question is about Friedman/Schwartz. I called today hoping I could schedule to speak with them over the phone because obviously flying to California for just a consult is going to be pretty tough. The person I spoke with over the phone said that first I need a referral and she’s not sure if they would do a phone appointment. Of course I just started the referral process and now I need to wait a couple of days to follow up with them in UCSD. For those who are not close to San Diego what was your experience trying to get in touch with them? Do they do phone conferences? Is there anyone specifically I should call about this? Please give me some info if you’ve dealt with them in the past and what the best way to go about it is.

Hi Triaga807 .....

Here is a link to Dr. Friedman's contact information:  https://providers.ucsd.edu/details/32904/rick-friedman-ent_head_and_neck-surgery-la_jolla  If you call the Direct Clinic Line - Perlman Medical Offices: (858) 657-8590 you should be able to leave a message for Kris Siwek, his patient navigator, who will call you back as quickly as possible.  Given it is holiday time, I do not know their office hours, but you should be able to leave a message.

Hope that helps.  Friedman and Schwartz are awesome!
