Sounds like nerve pain. ugh! It's a trial and error approach to dealing with it. I've had exploratory surgery for the pain--surgeon ended up removing the plate because of an adhesion and an artery was rubbing up against it. He also cut and ablated a nerve and removed a keloid nodule from the original incision scar because it was rubbing and irritating things beneath the scar. The surgery got rid of the pain, but only for 2 weeks. The pain came back furiously. I wish I had known about the high percentage of people that end up with post surgical nerve pain. My only advice is to advocate hard for the surgeon to acknowledge your pain and guide you on who to see and what can be tried to relieve it. if your surgeon suggests nerve blocks, definitely give them a try. If they don't work the first time, don't be too upset. Try them a second time. The specialist will use the first time as a diagnostic tool and will most likely try giving them into a different nerve path. For me, it was the second time where I found relief. ps--the burning is a sure sign of nerve pain.
