Titanium mesh erosion
« on: August 09, 2024, 05:36:19 pm »
I am ten years post trans lab procedure for a medium size tumor.   The titanium mesh that was used has eroded through my skin and fluids are leaking out.  I have visited the original doctors and they have scheduled a "hardware removal ".   I need to be put under general anaesthesia and spend time in the hospital.   I can't find comments from anyone else who has had the mesh plate removed to discuss the effects and I am a nervous wreck.   Anyone???

Hi Silmanen,

No one responded to your original post which makes me wonder if this is quite uncommon.  Did you have the procedure for the 'hardware removal', and if so, how did that go, and how are you doing?

Best wishes,
Don

While watching and waiting, lost significant hearing. WRS now at 12% (down from 100%). Was fitted with CROS system on 3/7/22.  Stable MRI on 7/29/22
No treatment yet.
