Did Cros hearing aid make tinnitus worse
« on: July 10, 2025, 07:37:05 AM »
Hello Community,

I just got Cros hearing aids for my SSD from GM and am really trying to get them to stay in my ear canals. 🤷🏻‍♀️
But, my main issue is my tinnitus seems worse when I take them out. Is this normal??? Is this a sign that they aren’t good for me or is it a temporary thing? I would LOVE to hear what’s being said on my left AN side but is it at the cost of uncomfortable tinnitus forever?
I will really appreciate information from CROS wearers if I should stop wearing them before doing more damage.
Thank you so much!

Totally normal, your brain misses the sound input when you take them out, so tinnitus spikes. Doesn’t mean the aids are harming you. Stick with them; most people adjust in a few weeks. If it’s rough, ask your audiologist to fine-tune or add masking.

I appreciate this question.  Have things improved for you?  I don't have any hearing aids yet.  But before I launch into getting any, I definitely want to know people's experience.  My AN was discovered in late November, and ten days prior I seemed to have a sudden decrease in my hearing.  I have ringing tinnitus but also the echoing of sounds in that same ear.  Whenever I use earplugs or even earmuffs or anything, the tinnitus is worse after removing them, and even my good ear is getting tinnitus from my attempts to help the tumor ear.  (I think from the physical pressure of the earmuffs and such?  Or because the good ear has to work harder?)
