Single earbud for music
« on: December 31, 2016, 10:26:09 am »
I'm 16 months post surgery with complete removal of my tumor. I'm left with some residual pain & complete hearing loss in my right ear. I'm now looking into a single wireless stereo to mono earbud to use in my good left ear with the iPod I got for Christmas. Any suggestions on one with good sound quality?

Hi jkkelley .....

I have a Scan Sound 1-BUD single ear bud that mixes both stereo channels into one bud.  It works very well for me.  However, I am not sure if they (or anyone) makes a wireless version since the iPhone 7 has no input jack now.  Your iPod should still work fine with the wired version.  Hope that helps.

There are several options on Amazon under 1-Bud and the music quality is better than using one side of a standard as they do convert to stereo. I enjoy music again much more with the 1-bud version.

Amazon has several single ear bud bluetooth options.  I picked up the Axgio ear bud.  It's very reasonably priced, and I've been surprised by its performance.

Also- in your mobile phone's settings you can switch audio output from stereo to mono.

I got the QCY26 on Amazon. It sounds amazing and was really cheap. I think under $20.
It is quite small, only issue is the battery only lasts maybe 1 1/2 - 2 hours before needing charging.

I use a blue tooth bone conducted (not anchored) headset so I don't block out ALL noise for when I'm walking around outside or working in the house and don't want to miss the phone  or doorbell ring. I found four different ones on Amazon. They all work fine.

I use a mixed mono earbud and an ear plug in my, not quite, deaf ear when listening while on the plane. I use a set of AFTERSHOKZ headphones when I want to listen in private at home. Bluetooth, bone conduction headphones originally intended for runners, I believe. Pleasantly good sound and enough bass to "tickle the temples".
