Dr. Michael Stefan
« on: April 19, 2007, 01:46:40 pm »
Can anyone please give me an idea of what this doctor is like?
Dr. Stefan will be performing my pre-op testing and I assume will be one doctor I will be seeing after surgery.
Has anyone ever had him?
thank you

He was great ... by the end of my stay . he was an old friend ! They did come by every day ..and spent time with you .. did not feel rushed...and when I came by for a 3 month check up, we were waiting outside and he walked by ... he remembered me.... stopped and talked for a while....

I got a funny story ... during my stay my wife and I became very friendly with a patient next door and his wife ..  I think it was his 2nd or 3rd day .. my wife was in my neighbors room with his wife .. and Dr. Stefan walked in and everyone was talking and he said how well he was doing "not like the guy next door"  :o  (which was me!) ..  classic <<insert foot in month>> LOL  ;D  They did release him after 3 or 4 days ... (I was there 7)....

Like Joe said Dr. Stefan was great!  I seen him more after the surgery than the other doctors and he always had time to talk and be honest about my recovery. The other doctors told me that my face would start moving soon. Dr. Stefan told me the truth. He said no one new for sure, it could take weeks, month -----H___ it could take years. I needed to hear the truth because if he had not told me that and I still had no movements at 3 mts like I have now, I would have worried my self crazy.

Thanks for your input.  I didn't realize until today he would be the doctor to take care of me in the hospital.  Which if you think about it makes sense.  Anyway Thanks

Hi,

All of my doctors at House came in to see how I was doing. Dr. Stefan will be the last doctor you see when you leave because he will give you the final ok and make sure that you have all the meds you need before you go home. Dr. Stefans wife, Joan, works in the office with him. I guess it's a family thing. Ann

Ditto, ditto, ditto!  Dr. Stefan was great.  He did my complete physical checkup prior to surgery himself...no nurse, EKG, everything.  I never felt rushed or that he was in any hurry.  You will like him.

Jean,
That is exactly what Dr. Stefan will be doing with me.  On May 17th I will see him and he will supervise / conduct all my pre-op testing.  I will be staying in Los Angeles that evening because I have to report to the hospital at 5:30 a.m.  My surgery is scheduled for 7:30 a.m.   It is difficult to envision that they take you from the admittance area to surgery almost immediately.

Dr. Stefan was great.  I had the surgery at St. Vincents (House), to stay at the Seton Hall Guest Center until I could go home.  I got an infection, had to be readmitted, and he was there every day until the infection cleared out, and he sent me home, back to New Mexico.

Can't say enough positive things about him.  Can say he's a big USC fan though.

hi!

i just wanted to be yet another person to let you know that you are in great hands!  my surgery was three years ago, and i am so grateful that i wound up at the house ear clinic.  i was diagnosed on a monday morning, and because of the ginormous size of my tumor, my it was imperative that my surgery be performed immediately.  the staff at house was incredible - changing schedules, etc. so that i could have the surgery performed 48 hours later!

dr. steffan did my pre-op and post-up check up, and he was thorough and (as someone else also mentioned) did my complete check-up himself.  he has a great bedside personality - it was like i was being checked up on by a friend!

dr. steffan aside, the fact that you are having your surgery performed at the house ear clinic should put your mind at ease.  they are world renound due to their staff, their professionalism, and the fact that they are on the cutting edge (if you'll excuse the pun) of ear-related problems.

again, you are in GREAT hands!!!!!

julie :)
