split personallity?????
« on: April 20, 2007, 06:39:48 pm »
As I am now 8 days out--I have a strange question...has anyone ever felt like they are trying to "integrate" the AN side with the other side?  I don't know if it has to do with the fact I still have the staples in my head, staples where they did my fat harvest, my shoulder is still sore on my one side, deaf with tinnitus on that side and basically nothing on the other side.  I just feel like I can't match the two sides up to function.  Also does this feeling of fullness in the op ear lessen as time goes by?  Thanks--I just think I could take care of one of me so much easier!
4.7cm x all over my head, filling 4th ventricle, squashing the brainstem

This is probably the toughest time....the surgery is behind you (you haven't died) and now it's on the road to recovery.  The only problem is that recovery takes time...I'm just over 3 months post-op and at about 95%...the last mile is the toughest...give it time, before you know it you will be back to "normal".

If you are only 8 days out and typing on this web site you are doing pretty good. I remember those out of head feeling for weeks. My first time to drive was just as weird. It gets better with time. Just hang in there!

Good Luck,

Actually thats about right, basically the brain is a centre control/co-ordination box
of left/side right/side info - in most cases here one side hearing is now down
or out altogether - sometimes the balance nerve as well
It can take a while to adjust - worst cases (like me etc)
you cannot even walk unaided for a month or so
Anyway co-ordination type therapy - done gently at first
will gradually allow the brain to correct back
You are very close to the OP so best not to push too hard yet
Yes it will get better - but a while yet ?
Best Regards
Tony
