gel drops
« on: June 10, 2007, 06:23:22 pm »
How often doe any of you use gel drops?  I don't have feeling in my eye, I have been using Celluvice every couple of hours during the day.  My eye doctor said the eye looked good, not a bit dry and if I wanted to I could try going longer.  I use Refresh PM at night.  Also we are going to Colorado on vacation, someone told me it was really dry out there and maybe I should use the ointment in the day too. Anyone from Colorado?  Karen  Does anyone use GenTeal gel?

It is a paradox for sure
But understand this - too dry an eye and you risk
initally redness and soreness - then later maybe long term damage
There are many products on the market and they vary in thickness
and general "gooeyness" - so its worth to try the best for you
In terms of vacation - take at least two eye care sets with you
and wraparound sunglasses do help.
Longer term if you cannot get by there are options
to block the "tear exit duct" ie you will keep the fluids longer
or even a small OP to lift the lower eyelid 2-3mm
it creates a shape more likey to retain water
(and reduces the "dry-zone" a bit too)
Finally for pools and sea - the night time stuff
is very good from protection from bleach and salt
your eye will get very sore without it
- so take a months supply ?
Oh and Happy Vacation !
Best Regards
Tony

Karen,

I use GenTeal Gel every night before retiring and this helps.  I also use as needed during the day when my eyes feel as though I've been in a sand storm.  It does cause blurring, and since I don't have a job that causes me great disturbance seeing through the blurr I'm not bothered.  Besides the blurr only lasts a short time--20 minutes or less.

Hi Karen:  I use the Refresh PM lubricant about every 2 hours from the time I wake up till I go to sleep, when I wake up during the night I put more in.   The Celluvisc & Systane don't last long enough.  The blurriness is a PIA, but it beats the burn from not using it.
