Insurance to cover Transear
« on: August 18, 2007, 06:00:32 pm »
Has anybody got their insurance to pay for their Transear?  How do you go about doing it?  I saw where some people try and bill it as a prothesis.  I have Health Alliance.  My primary doctor said he would do what he could do help me.

Karen, United Health Care covered mine in 2005.  It was approved to go through but my ENT doctor and his billing clerk had to arm wrestle over the code.  My husband phoned United HC twice trying to get the code figured out with the case worker.  Finally I think the approval and payment went through based on "Amputated hearing nerve, deafness by accident of surgery".  However we paid $400.00 in deposits and mold fitting fee.  We had a life long coverage with UHC and they had always been excellent.  Now we are both on Medicare, with UHC as secondary.  Quite a difference.  :(
