One Year FSR MRI Results
« on: January 02, 2008, 10:29:14 am »
Hello All ...

It's been nearly a year since I last checked in.  Happy New Year to everyone and I hope you are all well.  Since we last spoke, I went through my 35 days of FSR with Dr. Ramakrishna at the Brigham in Boston.  Overall I was very pleased with the staff and level of care.  Since I finished up last February, I've had very few side-effects.  I had my first MRI in June which showed some good central necrosis.  I just received the results of my December 20 MRI and - heavy sigh - I'm not sure I'm thrilled with the results.  I had such high expectations.

"slightly smaller than the prior examination ... however less central necrosis than on the prior examination and it has an overall more solid appearance."

Can anyone speak from experience on what this means?

Thank you!
John

You may yet be jumping to conclusions here
- it is still early days . The full "Rad" effect can take 18mths to be apparent
and some "finished" tumours never show any actual sign at all
- they just stop growing
The necrosis is a good sign at this stage for sure
(its very unlikely to have "recovered" either)
I am sure your Doc can put you right on this one
Good Luck and
Best Regards
Tony

Thank you, Tony!  I appreciate your very wise words.  After all the tests, etc. ... you'd think I'd learn not to jump.  Best - John

I believe that is quite common to see darkening from necrosis at around six months, then a return to white as scar tissue fills in. I'm sure I've seen several posts reporting this. So that sequence, plus "slightly smaller," translates to a good result in my book. I hope I get that!

Right side is weak too. Life is quiet.
