Speach recognition 6 months post-op
« on: July 25, 2007, 05:45:01 pm »
Had my 6 month follow-up (hearing test included), my speach recognition went from 12% to 32%, I'm happy.  Just wondering if anyone else out there has had this experience, if so has it gone higher?  Just wondering what I should expect...I think I know the answer...no one knows what the future will hold....I'm still excited.....

I have no idea what you might expect, I haven't even been treated yet. But it is great to hear that regaining some speech recognition is possible. Cool! 8)

Joe,
Unfortunatley, my score went the other way, and has stayed in decline since 2 yrs. post op.
But I am really glad for you! - that's very encouraging for you and others. Congrats.

Hi Joe!

Good news! One reads so many losing hearing.
I wonder if removing the AN, decompressed the auditory nerve?
I hope your recovery continues nicely.

Congratulations! :D

You should be happy!  Hearing improvement post-op is quite rare.  Yes, no one knows what the future may bring, but for now, you have a right to be excited.

4.5 cm AN diagnosed 5/06.  Retrosigmoid surgery 6/06.  Follow-up FSR completed 10/06.  Tumor shrinkage & necrosis noted on last MRI.  Life is good.

Life is not the way it's supposed to be. It's the way it is.  The way we cope with it is what makes the difference.

Joe that's great! What's your secret? Please fill me in on how to achieve that...

Keep it going, maybe you can top 50% one of these days.
