Recovery timeline

OK, I know everyone's recovery is a little different but I am 4 months post-op of a large AN (which required the VII-XII nerve transfer) and I am wondering if any out there who went through a similar procedure could give me a hint on how long it took them to regain any function on the face.  I know the book (doctor) answer is from 4 - 18 months, just trying to see what any of you experienced.  I have decent facial tone but absolutely no function at all.  And for those who had the nerve transfer - how much function of the tongue did you get back?
