Recurrence
« on: March 20, 2008, 06:22:47 pm »
Does anyone know the recurrence rate for ANs?  If a person had one, what is the likelihood of getting another?
Also, has anyone in the northeast been feeling particularly lousy lately?  Weather-related maybe?

Good question.

When I was making my treatment decision, I asked my doc if he surgically removed my AN what the odds were of it growing back.  I also asked him what the odds were of me getting an AN in my other ear.  He told me that neither situation was going to happen and he said it very confidently.  So, at that point I thought it was impossible for either scenario.

However, once I started reading posts on this forum, I found out that sometimes ANs do recur.

That said, I think the odds are very, very minimal.

Thanks for your thoughts on that.  I seem to be having lot of loopiness again, and was wondering.  Guess it's time for that MRI.  The doctors say chances of recurrence are slim, but the chances of geting this thing in the first place were slim, too.

You know the loopiness may be nothing, but it may be something - so, yes, by all means get the MRI.

Did you have an MRI one year post op?

I'm due for mine in a few months.
