Darkening does not always happen. Many times it is observed at around 6 months, but disappears afterwards as scar tissue forms. Its absence doesn't mean that the procedure hasn't worked. So I wouldn't worry about it.

GK on April 23rd 2008 for 2.9 cm AN at Toronto Western Hospital. Subsequent MRIs showed darkening initially, then growth. Retrosigmoid surgery on April 26th, 2011 with Drs. Akagami and Westerberg at Vancouver General Hospital. Graduallly lost hearing after GK and now SSD but no other issues.

None for me so far, at 15 months out. It can turn red and green for all I care, as long as it doesn't grow. :)

8 mm left AN June 2007,  CK at Stanford Sept 2007.
Hearing lasted a while, but left side is deaf now.
Right side is weak too. Life is quiet.

Mindyandy:

I underwent surgery to reduce the size of my tumor and cut off it's blood supply, then went through 26 FSR treatments.  My doctor observed necrosis at 6 months and that has continued, as well as some slight tumor shrinkage.  However, as we're all different, I doubt there is a firm time-frame for observing necrosis.  As Steve stated, 'no growth' is just fine.  I agree and would just add that necrosis is even better - but not mandatory.  However, I'm sure it will happen eventually.

Jim
4.5 cm AN diagnosed 5/06.  Retrosigmoid surgery 6/06.  Follow-up FSR completed 10/06.  Tumor shrinkage & necrosis noted on last MRI.  Life is good.

Life is not the way it's supposed to be. It's the way it is.  The way we cope with it is what makes the difference.
