cordless phone risk
« on: March 23, 2006, 10:00:40 am »
A friend of mine who had a large (3+ cm) tumor surgically removed from the fifth cranial nerve told me that the base units of cordless phones emit radiation (microwaves?) that are potentially linked to brain tumors and that he's removed his from the nightstand by his bed and on his desk.  (he says the secondary units --with base chargers--are okay and don't emit radiation).  Has anyone else heard this?  He also says the regular "ear bud" headsets for cell phones still transmit radiation and shouldn't be used--there are ones with plastic at the ear that are safer. . .Any credibility to these concerns?

cordless phones emit radiowaves.

While I don't think there is anything conclusive  I think it's more myth than actual.

BIG differnce between "radiation" and radiowaves--.Radiowaves are all around us from souces natural (outer space) and man-made.  They are the same as sound and light waves but at a much lower frequency. All this can be found in a high school physics book.
