Another smell question...
« on: May 20, 2009, 09:10:12 pm »
OK, so lately, I have been smelling a foul odor for just brief moments at a time a couple days of the week.  After assuring that nobody else smelled it, and checking to make sure it wasn't me who smelled that way :), I cannot figure out where it is coming from.  I am not currently sick, nor do I exhibit any symptoms that anything in the nose/sinuses is infected, abscessed, etc.   I did have a small feeding tube in my left nostril for about a week or more post-op, and thought maybe that irritated some things on that side???  But it's weird that it just started 6 months post-op.

Any thoughts or similarities???

Amy-

I still get odd smells sometimes, usually always unpleasant (why can't I smell, for example, chocolate chip cookies?)  Not sure what this is about, but have just assumed it is some nerve confusion.  It doesn't happen all that often now (I'm a year post), so I suppose eventually I won't have odd smells at all.  Be curious if anyone else has experienced this?

Thanks, Debbi.  I kinda thought the olfactory nerves were just as confused as the rest of my brain :)  Glad to know someone else has experienced this unpleasantry.  No Choc. Chip smell??  Wow, I must say that is just awful.  At least I can still smell the good things.  Best wishes to chocolately goodness smells to you in the very near future....   For right now, I guess we just settle for the poopy smells.  Lucky us  ;)
