Support Group
« on: June 22, 2009, 06:13:38 am »
I found a support group in my area recently and went to my first meeting this past weekend. It was great. I met several folks who've had surgery and several who've had radiation. One lady has surgery scheduled next month and one is in a wait and watch.  Our guest speaker was not able to make it to the meeting so each of us went around the room and shared our experience. Wow it was so interesting to learn what folks have been through. For those of you out there that have never been to a support group I strongly recommend you find a group. It has been 3 years since my AN was removed and even though I feel I am doing great, I have some issues and I learned that others are in the same boat.

Thank you Johnny for giving me a heads up on the support group. It was a pleasure to meet you and all the other fellow ANer's.

TP ~

Thanks for the positive assessment of your local AN support group.  They're an important source for any AN patient.   Facilitating the sharing of information between AN patients as well as helping you to find those who can personally relate to you and offer first-hand advice has always been a vital part of the ANA's outreach.  Your recommendation is appreciated.  :)

4.5 cm AN diagnosed 5/06.  Retrosigmoid surgery 6/06.  Follow-up FSR completed 10/06.  Tumor shrinkage & necrosis noted on last MRI.  Life is good.

Life is not the way it's supposed to be. It's the way it is.  The way we cope with it is what makes the difference.
