Post Gamma Knife MRI - 2 months
« on: September 14, 2009, 07:49:15 pm »
I had gamma knife surgery 2 months and 8 days ago today.  I had my first MRI this morning and this afternoon got the very happy phone call with the great news that the tumor has not changed in size and is showing signs of necrosis.  I am delighted, thankful, elated, giddy, etc.  I know I am still early on in the recovery process, but am so happy that everything is good so far.  Also thankful that no side effects have kicked in yet, again, I know I'm early in the process.

As I am watching a good friend battle an aggressive cancer, I am reminded how lucky I am to have had a slow growing tumor with excellent odds of recovery.

For everyone who is in the thick of their AN journey, I wish for you a similar day of good news and happiness.
Beth

Beth -

thanks for sharing your good news with us.  Signs of necrosis after only 2 months is wonderful   ;D

I'm sorry to hear about your friend - will say some prayers.

Beth, that's terrific news that you are seeing necrosis after only 2 months. Your tumor is evidently responding very quickly to the treatment, which probably bodes very well as to the eventual outcome.

Best wishes for continued improvement.

Hi, Beth ~

Allow me to take my place in line and offer you my congratulations on the excellent 2-month MRI report.  This kind of early necrosis bodes well for the future.  Well done!  :)

4.5 cm AN diagnosed 5/06.  Retrosigmoid surgery 6/06.  Follow-up FSR completed 10/06.  Tumor shrinkage & necrosis noted on last MRI.  Life is good.

Life is not the way it's supposed to be. It's the way it is.  The way we cope with it is what makes the difference.
